Get Your Kid to Meet Someone New - Ground Work

Laying the Groundwork

When you know a visitor is coming, prepare your child if you can. Show pictures of the guest, if possible, and talk up the visit.

Take time to role-play meeting new people. You can play your child, and your child can play the stranger.

Have simple expectations. If making eye contact is too much for your child, tell him to look at some other part of the person’s face when greeting her.
